On Wednesday's episode of Human Events Daily, host Jack Posobiec spent time remembering the horrific events of 9/11 on its anniversary, also cautioning that the United States as a country "lost so much more than we realize."

"We lost the country that we were," he said. "The country that you grew up in no longer exists."

Posobiec reminisced of a time when he would visit the World Trade Center with his parents in the 1990s before adding "The country that we were before it's gone, but we can get it back if we fight."

Reporter David Zere of Real America's Voice joined the show live from New York City after attending the 9/11 memorial which President Donald Trump attended after visiting the FDNY Fire Station that deployed so many heroes on the fateful day, many of whom were tragically lost. Zere reminded the audience that Engine 54/Ladder 4 Battalion 9 lost all 15 firefighters on shift and 343 total firefighters lost their lives that day. He shared that he even lost one of his best friends Peter Brennan on 9/11.

"But Jack, we were talking, you know, I don't know if enough people get it," Zere said, adding that a majority of people he had spoken with around NYC that day "don't know the roots of the 40 years of global terrorism, Islamic terrorism, Islamic terrorism in New York City and all that. And people are complacent. The rich people step over the bodies on the way to Starbucks, and I don't know if people get it."

He talked about the Patriot Act which was enacted in the aftermath of 9/11 and essentially allowed the government to spy on US citizens and led to the mass distrust of the government that's seen today.

"That's an interesting point here, that not only did we lose that innocence, but we actually used to have a level of trust for our government. It sounds naive. It almost sounds ridiculous to say, but we did have that," Posobiec responded. "And the fact is, we lost those great people, we lost those great Americans, we lost our country. We can fight to bring it back."
