Mets broadcaster Gary Cohen couldn’t hold in his excitement over Francisco Lindor’s game-tying home run in the top of the ninth against the Blue Jays.

Harkening back to a bit of Knicks history, Cohen exalted “Linsanity” when Lindor ended Bowden Francis’ no-hitter bid with a blast to right field.

“And a home run ends this no-hit bid. Linsanity!” Cohen said on air. “Francisco Lindor ties the game with a ninth-inning home run. As big a hit as the Mets have had all season. Francisco Lindor breaks up the no-hit bid and the shutout and he ties the game with his 31st home run of the year.”

New York Mets' Francisco Lindor rounds the bases after hitting a solo home run to end Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Bowden Francis' hopes of throwing a no hitter during the ninth inning of a baseball game in Toronto, Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024.

The home run jumpstarted a six-run ninth inning that erased a 1-0 deficit and led to a 6-2 win for the Mets as they took the series against the Blue Jays with a crucial series against the Phillies coming up this weekend.

Lindor told reporters after the game that he knew the ball was headed out of the ballpark “100 percent.”

Tyrone Taylor could be heard away from the scrum yelling, “Of course he did, he’s a dawg.”

“It’s time to win baseball games and coming up to Toronto and facing good pitchers, and ending up with two wins, is a good start to the road trip,” Lindor said.

Cohen’s “Linsanity” comment was a reference to the Jeremy Lin craze that swept New York City during the 2011-12 season when the Knicks player rose to stardom out of nowhere and the Knicks strung together a slew of wins.
