Country singer-songwriter Lee Greenwood is expressing his gratitude for veterans ahead of Memorial Day.

• Greenwood spoke about his efforts to help provide new homes to U.S. veterans with Fox News Digital.
• The singer shared that this year will be the 40th anniversary of him writing his song “God Bless the USA.”
• There will be a filmed concert, “An All-Star Salute to Lee Greenwood,” that will sell on DVD beginning May 3, in which the proceeds will go to helping veterans.
• He told the outlet, “There are 40 different singers we invited to film this DVD. And these performances were a one-time thing. We had all of these people gathered for just one event, and it was very important to me that we were able to give away two homes to two veterans — two of America’s wounded warriors — during the filming.”
• “I wanted to do something for our military,” Greenwood said.
• “And so we’ve taken initiative over the past 15 years to build homes for wounded warriors. We’ve built over 220 homes, by the way, in 15 years. And so with this new DVD coming out, it’s an initial project of mine to get [more] homes built for veterans.”
• Asked what being an American means to him, Greenwood said, “As I wrote [in ‘God Bless the USA’], I’m proud to be an American.”
• He also expressed “great faith” in the U.S.
