At around 3 p.m. EDT, the Iranian regime launched around 100 drones/cruise missiles directly toward Israel on April 13 from inside its own territory. The situation is unprecedented for a direct attack. Dozens of drones were intercepted and shot down by the US. Sirens were activated in numerous areas of Israel as their multi-layered missile defense systems were activated. The drones were reportedly lighted, which may have been a tactic to cause fear in the populace.
UPDATE: Iran launched approximately 300 drones, missiles, but only about 30 people were injured and minimal damage. IDF reports that 99% of them were intercepted by various coalition forces.
The attack came after an Israeli strike on an Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria that killed 7 members of the IRGC, including a top General. But the populace of Israel, who were advised to stay close to bomb shelters and shelter in place, did not panic. More than 720 alerts were sent to Israelis as warnings.

The biggest concern in Israel at this time is about a possible attack from Hezbollah from Lebanon on top of the Iranian drones and missiles. Hezbollah has more sophisticated missiles than some of the other Iranian proxies.

Iran issued a post on X that claimed this attack was the end of their response. But such a “weak-kneed” response seems incongruous compared to the viciousness of their rhetoric. Some analysts have postulated that it could be a distraction for an attack by Hezbollah or the Houthis. The IDF stated that so far there is minimal damage from the attack.

As Sunday morning dawns tomorrow, we could wake up to a new security problem thanks to the appeasement by the Biden administration. This is a huge escalation in the Middle East. Jordan has stated that if their sovereignty is in peril from the drones over their airspace, they would take action. We’ll see. There will be a response from Israel, but we are not certain what that will entail.
It could be an interesting situation.
