(Los Angeles) Major cities in California have found the secret to clearing out the growing number of homeless encampments: Blare clips of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s stand-up routines.
“Little did we know that Kimmel’s popularity was a mile wide but only an inch deep,” Jose Cabrerra, L.A.’s social services director who is leading the effort. “I thought I was the only one who got angrier when I heard Kimmel stand-ups, not happier. Turns out I’m not alone.”
“Yeah, Kimmel’s definitely not a hit among the homeless,” added Steve Barker, who is the assistant housing supervisor for L.A. County. “In fact, he’s downright loathed. Homeless people would rather take their chances in Oregon or maybe even Nevada than have to endure those awful hot takes on the day’s events. Or even actually get a home.”
Asked how long the city planned on using Kimmel clips to clear homeless camps, Cabrerra responded: “Until the last one is gone.”
