Left-wingers weren’t held accountable for a race hoax against Fox News host Brian Kilmeade

Last week, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade was a victim of the Left’s latest race hoax. Similar to the case of entertainer Jussie Smollett, the garage pull of race car driver Bubba Wallace, and essentially every other hate crime over which the Left expressed outrage, the claims made against Kilmeade were never true.

This viral post accused Kilmeade of using the word “colored” to describe Zeta Phi Beta, a historically black sorority that Vice President Kamala Harris spoke at last week. However, any honest and objective person could tell you that Kilmeade never used the word “colored.” He said, “college.”

Among the people who engaged in the spread of misinformation by sharing this post was Eugene Daniels, president of the White House Correspondents’ Association and columnist with Politico. It was the kind of mistake that only a race-baiting, agenda-driven liberal in the media could make. Daniels, who should consider changing his name to Eugene Smollett, reposted the claim and subsequent faux outrage, obviously without adequately ascertaining whether his assumption was correct. Daniels has since, belatedly, deleted the post.

In response to the misinformation, Fox issued a statement criticizing Daniels, claiming his post was a misquote that “unnecessarily maligned” Kilmeade.

“Eugene Daniels’ now-deleted tweet completely misquoted and unnecessarily maligned Brian Kilmeade, who clearly said college sorority,” read Fox’s statement.

Kilmeade later also debunked the junk claim.

“So this ends up being this big thing, and it turns out the person who did it is head of the Washington Correspondents Association,” Kilmeade said last week on his radio show while debunking the race hoax. “And he’s a Politico guy who does Playbook every day. I ended up speaking to him at the end of the day, and that conversation remained private. But they walked it back.”

“They corrected it, but it didn’t stop for four or five hours. People like Jamie Harrison, head of the DNC, calling me a clown, making racial accusations,” Kilmeade said. “People across the country just see the headline and start throwing things, things out. It disparages me, disparages this company.”

(Note: I waited a week before commenting on this with the hopes that Daniels, or any number of the left-wingers who falsely accused Kilmeade of saying “colored,” would offer a public retraction, an apology, or admit any wrongdoing. I did not expect it, but I did not want to rush to judgment and essentially commit the same sin as the people I was criticizing. However, as anticipated, no adequate public apology ever came.)

Daniels and all the other gullible yet divisive misinformation spreaders, such as the aforementioned Harrison, who engaged in the lies and deceit, swept any correction under the rug. Daniels did issue an excuse (instead of a real apology) by issuing a lame backtrack, blaming it on alleged garbled audio. However, the audio wasn’t garbled. Daniels likely had a political agenda and probably just wanted to sully the reputation of a prominent talk show host with Fox News by insinuating he was a racist.

As what usually happens in these race hoaxes created by the Left, the target, Kilmeade, was eventually vindicated. However, any corrections or omissions of wrongdoing and guilt, if any did happen, did so to much less fanfare and attention than the initial post received.

These purveyors of misinformation deserve to be held accountable. These acts of misinformation must not be so easily dismissed. These were serious false accusations. Leftists regularly likes to champion the importance of honesty and the dangers of spreading lies and misinformation. Yet, they routinely like to willfully engage in it. Such things happen far too often with those on the Left.

Furthermore, escaping punishment or accountability is another thing that happens far too often on the Left. The frequency with which the left-wingers make false statements and accusations about conservatives and Republicans could rival the Soviet Union’s infamous Pravda newspaper.

In a just world, Daniels, Harrison, and any other account or person who made up the bogus claim against Kilmeade would issue a public apology and retraction on social media, print, and television. Such misinformation must not stand or be allowed to continue. Unless the left-wing agents of lies and misinformation are ever held accountable for their sins, such lies, hoaxes, rumors, and brainwashing the public with false information will continue.
