The Democratic Party shifting to Vice President Kamala Harris shows that the party is also falling further into the embrace of racial division and “diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

Harris has taken over for President Joe Biden as the party’s (likely) presidential nominee for only just over a week, but the racial division has already kicked into full gear. Last Thursday, Democrats held a “white women for Harris” virtual fundraiser, organized by gun control activist Shannon Watts. The call included Rep. Lizzie Fletcher (D-TX), Senate candidate Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), and some celebrities.

This comes on the heels of a “black women for Harris” activism call and a “black men for Harris” call. It is also being followed by “White Dudes for Harris,” a call that will include Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. These aren’t just events by activist cliques. They include prominent Democratic politicians such as Slotkin and Buttigieg, and they are predicated on dividing people up by race and gender.

Harris isn’t being called a “DEI candidate” only because Biden used self-imposed affirmative action guidelines to pick her as his running mate. She is a “DEI candidate” because she believes in the tenets of DEI, including the notion that people should be divided into racial and gender groups and that those divisions should define every aspect of their societal involvement. The Democratic Party has fallen further into this ideology, as evidenced by Biden’s affirmative action Cabinet decisions.

That decay is going to accelerate with Harris at the head of the party, given how often Democrats, pundits, and activists have defended Harris by claiming any criticism or opponent of her is racist, sexist, or both. Democrats and liberal activists have embraced segregation in classrooms and at graduation ceremonies, and the party is now making it a central tenet of its own political activism.

This is the most important reason that Harris’s candidacy and the modern-day Democratic Party must be defeated. The embrace of racial division as a political strategy is toxic, and the Democratic Party’s attempts to bring it to every aspect of society, from sports to school to entertainment, defies everything it means to be an American. Segregationist ideas should be a relic of a shameful past, and yet that is what Harris’s candidacy is bringing out of Democrats now.
