CNN Forced To Admit It Used ‘Digitally Altered’ Images Of President Trump In Recent Coverage

Prior to Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, White House and Democratic Party sources claimed conservatives were using deceptive “cheap fakes” in order to make the octogenarian appear even more cognitively impaired than he actually was.

Now, a left-leaning news outlet has admitted it used fake content in its on-air efforts to disparage President Donald Trump.

According to Breitbart:

CNN issued an on-air retraction and admitted to using “digitally altered” photos of former President Donald Trump and right-wing activist and influencer Laura Loomer.

In a post on X, Loomer shared a video of CNN issuing a retraction after CNN hosts, such as Anderson Cooper, used a “digitally altered” photo of Trump and Loomer in “a number of segments” on Friday and Saturday.

“Friday evening and on Saturday, CNN aired a number of segments that briefly showed an image of former President Donald Trump and Laura Loomer taken from social media,” the CNN host said. “On review, this image had been digitally altered by a third party and should not have been included. We regret the error.

Loomer took the network to task for its actions as well as the way the matter was handled after it came to light.

The matter received plenty of attention on social media:

To be sure, Loomer is a controversial political figure, even within Trump’s orbit. JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, addressed concerns on the right about what role Loomer is playing as an informal adviser to the campaign.

According to The Hill:

“Look, Laura Loomer is not affiliated with the Trump campaign. She said something about curry in the White House that I first read about this morning actually, because I knew that you would ask me about it,” Vance said in an interview Sunday on NBC News’s “Meet the Press” with Kristen Welker, who also noted that Vance’s wife is Indian.

Vance also suggested that discussing Loomer’s remarks was a distraction from the campaign, and he said they ought to be talking about Harris and her policies.

“Look, Kristen, I make a mean chicken curry. I don’t think that it’s insulting for anybody to talk about their dietary preferences or what they want to do in the White House. I think what Laura said about Kamala Harris is not what we should be focused on. We should be focused on the policy and on the issues,” he said.

“So yeah, do I agree with what Laura Loomer said about Kamala Harris? No, I don’t. I also don’t think that this is actually an issue of national import. Is Laura Loomer running for president? No. Kamala Harris is running for president. And whether you’re eating curry at your dinner table or fried chicken, things have gotten more expensive thanks to her policies. Let’s talk about the person running for president of the United States, not a social media personality who supports Donald Trump,” he continued.

Here’s a clip of Vance’s remarks on the matter:
