The Presidential election is shaping up to be another photo finish. 

Candidates are searching for something that will give them a crucial edge. 

And Donald Trump has one ace in the hole that will make Kamala Harris’ life a nightmare. 

Low-turnout voters could make the difference in Michigan 

Michigan is one of the most hotly contested swing states this election. 

Former President Donald Trump won the state by about 13,000 votes in the 2016 election. 

It flipped back to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election by about 150,000 votes. 

A defeat in Michigan would almost certainly doom Vice President Kamala Harris’ chances of winning the election. 

She has a slim lead of 1.8% in the RealClearPolitics polling average of the state. 

The Trump campaign is looking to “low-propensity” voters to get the former President the victory in Michigan. 

Low-propensity voters don’t vote in every election. 

But the Trump campaign thinks they can turn them out this year with some encouragement. 

Michigan Republican Party officials told The Detroit News they believe there are anywhere from 250,000 to 500,000 in the state who would support Trump if they vote – more than Biden’s margin of victory in 2020.

“We think that there were . . . somewhere between a quarter and a half million low propensity voters that will most likely vote Republican,” Michigan Republican Party chairman Pete Hoekstra said. 

Turnout operation could deliver victory for Trump

Volunteers with the Michigan GOP are contacting these low-propensity voters with text messages, phone calls, and knocking on their doors. 

They hope that repeated contact with this group will convince them to turn out in November. 

“With the number of people that we have out through the party and out through these other organizations … we’ve got the best ground game that we’ve had, probably, in decades,” Hoekstra said.

Auto Workers for Trump founder Brian Pannebecker said his group’s goal was to have each member contact 10 low-propensity voters until Election Day. 

Getting three or four of these low-propensity voters to turn out would be a massive success. 

“They’ve just tripled or quadrupled the power of their own vote,” Pannebecker said.

Trump Volunteer Leanne Fisk has knocked on more than 1,200 doors in Macomb County, Michigan, with her daughter. 

“There are a lot of people that did stay home and didn’t vote in 2020, and had they gone out to vote, it would have made a huge difference,” Fisk said.

The Trump campaign is focusing on working-class voters in the state, and there are signs that Kamala has a weakness with them.

Michigan has about 245,000 active or retired members of the Teamsters Union. 

The National Teamsters Union didn’t issue an endorsement in the Presidential campaign for the first time since the 1996 Election after an internal survey of members found about 60% support Trump. 

Michigan has 15 crucial Electoral Votes in an election that’s expected to come down to the wire. 

Turning out even a portion of these low-propensity voters could get Donald Trump over the top in the state.
