During a recent appearance on ABC’s “The View,” President Joe Biden made a disturbing gesture in light of the latest alleged assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump. Democrats and many outlets in the mainstream media have faced substantial criticism for the seeming indifference they have displayed toward the attempts on Trump’s life. At the same time, they continue to tout hostile rhetoric.
As co-host Whoopi Goldberg was speaking derogatorily toward the Republican presidential candidate, Goldberg compared Trump to a nuisance “bug” that pestered her. “Then he just wouldn’t, who’s like a bug. He just kept being there, it was like a like a bug right there,” Goldberg said, while emulating a fly that was buzzing around her face.
President Biden then slammed his hand on the table, as if to emulate smashing and killing the bug. Upon doing so, the crowd and several of the panelists began clapping and cheering at the gesture. However, conservatives have blasted the move as another example of violent rhetoric being deployed against Trump, which some blame as a factor in the attempts on Trump’s life.
Sharing a clip of the incident on “The View,” The Post Millenial wrote, “Whoopi compares Trump to a bug, Biden pretends to kill the bug.” Commenting under the video, one person called out the seeming double standard in the media, writing, “If Trump did this they would be outraged by his violent slap and his wanting to physically harm every democrat.”
Calling out the seemingly violent rhetoric, another person said, “This isn’t sending a certain message to people though? People really can’t see past this rhetoric and propaganda? They know exactly what they’re doing but the idiot sheeple can’t seem to understand and fall for it all…”
“This, as his admin is briefing Trump on the supposed threats from Iranian Assassins. They are foretelling the narrative of the October surprise. If the script was flipped, and Trump responded this way in an interview – could you imagine the 24/7 outrage from the left?” another user wrote, echoing the same sentiment.
“I’m glad we’ve decided to lower the temperature,” one person said, pointing out that Biden seemingly walked back his comments that political discourse should become more peaceful after the first attempt on Trump’s life at his Butler, Pennsylvania rally. “This is similar to what the Hutu did to the Tutsi before they killed nearly a million of them in Rwanda. They made their lives mean nothing, to make it easier to kill them. They called them cockroaches that needed to be exterminated…..It is what dictators do to their opponents,” another person said, drawing parallels to history.
For years, the Biden-Harris campaign and the broader Democratic Party have labeled Trump a threat to Democracy and compared him to 20th Century fascist leaders such as Hitler. Watch the latest incident in which violence is seemingly alluded to by President Biden below:
